Portamonitor is a pocket size condition indicator took which employs powerful monitoring techniques to analyze the health state of rotating machinery especially with regards to the health and lubrication of bearings. With its magnetic sensor head, the portamonitor can be attached to machineries outer casing and takes readings over a short period to assess the condition of the moving parts within. An overall noise decibel (dB) level is returned along with a distress level after measurement that can be quickly analyzed and compared to other readings in order to discover if preventative maintenance is required. Hardy and robust, the Portamonitor – ultrasonic bearing indicator
can take 1000 readings between charges, which is done through a standard USB lead for easy charging anywhere.
Function of Ultrasonic Bearing Indicator
The Portamonitor™ aids in the identification of mechanically deteriorated bearings and bearings with inadequate/contaminated lubricant. It does this by detecting high frequency (ultrasonic) stress waves associated with friction and other faults with machinery in poor condition (impacts etc.). It can be used to monitor bearings in motors, pumps, fans, gearboxes and other rotating machinery applications. This ultrasonic bearing indicator
has two outputs – a decibel (dB) reading and a Distress® level which are both measured and displayed simultaneously by the Portamonitor™.

Never denying the need of various measuring and monitoring instruments when it comes to industrial sector has improved the functioning and manufacturing techniques of factories. It was applied in the old times when you were supposed to hire massive number of labour in order to manually manage all the things though it never gave off accurate results. However, Portamonitor which is a portable ultrasonic bearing indicator introduced by Coltraco Limited, UK, is a device that comes with being a source of check your bearings in your pumps and motors whereas standby battery of 12 hours. It performs within the temperature in between 0°C to 65° C (32°F to 149°F).
